Discipleship Guide - Week 1 - One Family, Many Cultures

Discipleship Guide - Week 1:

"One Family, Many Cultures: A Heavenly Fiesta"

In this sermon, Rev. Uroza reflects on the beautiful diversity within the body of Christ, inspired by the vision in Revelation 7:9-10, where people from every nation, tribe, and language come together to worship God while retaining their cultural identities. As followers of Christ, we are challenged to get to know those who are different from us, seeing their stories as reflections of God’s creativity and love. This unity in diversity is a glimpse of the heavenly banquet that awaits us.

Questions for Discipleship:

1. Reflection on Diversity in God’s Kingdom:

In Revelation 7:9-10, the multitude retains their cultural identities as they worship God together. How do you think diversity enriches the body of Christ? How does it help you see God’s creativity in others?

2. The Power of the Table:

Think about a time when sharing a meal or a conversation helped break down barriers between you and someone from a different background. How can sharing meals become a spiritual practice of unity in your community?

3. Embracing the Other:

The world often tries to make us fear those who are different. How can you personally challenge that narrative and embrace someone from a different culture or background in your life? What steps can you take this week to connect with them?

4. Seeing God’s Image in Others:

How does interacting with people from different cultures help you experience God in new ways? In what ways have you learned more about God by hearing someone else’s story or faith journey?

5. Living as a Reflection of the Heavenly Banquet:

In the heavenly banquet, people from all cultures come together to worship. What practices or actions can you take today to make your community a more welcoming place where diversity is celebrated and embraced, reflecting God’s kingdom here on earth?
