Professions of Faith: Rev. Sean Stanfield
Scripture: Acts 2:42-27
Faith is not just about belief; it’s also about belonging. A disciple invites and leads others not just to a personal encounter with Christ but into a community where they are known, valued, and embraced. The church’s mission is not simply to be welcoming but to cultivate spaces of true belonging, where people are nurtured in faith and connected in meaningful relationships.
Pick and Choose the Questions for the Group based on time:
1. Have you ever felt like an outsider? What contributed to that feeling?
2. What qualities make a group or community feel welcoming to you?
3. How do you typically try to make others feel like they belong?
4. Do you think it's possible to belong without fully fitting in? Why or why not?
5. What barriers—internal or external—might prevent someone from feeling like they belong?
6. How does our identity in Christ shape the way we view community and belonging?
7. Have you ever struggled to feel like you belong in a church or Christian community? What helped or hindered that?
8. How can we reflect God's love in the way we welcome and include others?
9. Jesus often included those on the margins. How can we follow His example in our own communities?
