About
Rev. Carlos Uroza was born in Mexico City and moved to Nashville in 2002, where he began his journey of ministry and community work. Known for his ability to bring people together across different cultural and ethnic backgrounds, Rev. Uroza has a passion for gathering people around the table to share stories, build relationships, and create a sense of belonging. He has been serving in the Woodbine neighborhood for over a decade, fostering unity and celebrating diversity.
After arriving in the United States, Rev. Uroza earned his GED, a B.S. in Culinary Management from the Art Institute, and a Master of Divinity from Vanderbilt Divinity School in 2015. In 2018, he made history as the first Hispanic to be ordained as an Elder in the Tennessee Annual Conference of the United Methodist Church. He currently serves as the pastor of Woodbine United Methodist Church, a vibrant multiethnic, bilingual congregation committed to discipleship, service, and community transformation.
Rev. Uroza is a co-founder and board member of Cosecha Community Development, an initiative born from Woodbine UMC and local neighbors to “gather neighbors together to foster community” in South Nashville. Cosecha offers programs such as a language school, a community market, and community gardens, while partnering with local schools and organizations to strengthen connections and collaboration along the Nolensville Road corridor.
Rev. Uroza is married to Dr. Sarah Uroza, a faculty member at Lipscomb University School of Pharmacy. Together, they have a son, Luke, and a beloved dog named Tamale (Molly).
